Bathroom and Food Scales

When on a diet, scales become very important. Of course, many people think of getting a bathroom scale especially if their current one hasn’t been working right. Bathroom scales come with all sorts of options now. Some of these scales can talk–that is, they have a voice chip which allows them to speak your weight. Others will measure your body fat and water ratios, so you can tell whether you’re losing fat, or lean muscle instead.

But the need for scales doesn’t end in the bathroom. Weighing your food is often the first step to changing the weight of yourself. But you don’t have to be satisfied by just knowing the weight of a portion: a kitchen diet scale like the Nutriscale Digital Nutrition Scale lets you enter the food type you’re weighing, and gives you the nutritional value of it! No more looking up nutritional values as you cook!

For all your scale needs, go to ScalesEtc.com for reliable scales at great prices!

HealthFit Calorie Counter

The counting of calories and nutrients is a big part of many diets and health regimens. Yet, there aren’t many options which make this easy. Going online to check food values only works if you’re near the computer. But what about when you’re out? Or if you just don’t want to have to go searching to find out how many calories, carbs, sodium, etc. are in the dinner you’re about to eat?

That’s where the HealthFitCounter comes in. It’s a little handheld calculator which works whereever you are. You just enter what food you’re eating, and how much of it, and the Counter tells you what nutrients are in it along with how many calories!

It comes with over 2000 foods already programmed in, including fast foods from your favorite fast-food restaurants. But not only that, you can program in other foods as well.

Not only that, the HealthFitCounter now can keep track of exercises you’ve done, and tell you how many calories it estimates you’ve burnt. It can use this information, along with the info on what you’ve eaten, to calculate your caloric use for the day. No more tedious manual figuring at the end of a tiring day!

Even if you don’t need to lose any weight, a HealthFit Counter can benefit you. It’s good for helping control of diabetes (by enabling better monitoring of carb and other sugar intake), following doctor’s orders for heart conditions, and keeping track of progress of fitness programs.

Sonicare e5500 Electric Toothbrush

Due to my satisfaction with the Sonicare Essence e5500 Power Toothbrush, I’ve chosen it to be the inaugural product for the new format of this site.

This tooth brush really does do what the reviews say: It makes the teeth feel as though they’ve just been cleaned by a hygienist! My teeth are smoother-feeling using my Phillips Sonicare than any toothbrush has ever gotten them.

There is a ramp-up period for new users of this brush–it starts out running a bit slower and speeds up over the course of a few days. Once it’s up to speed, that’s when the smoothness really becomes noticable.

It also makes the teeth whiter. I expect that it’ll take prolonged use to see the most of this effect; mine have gotten about a shade lighter in a couple of weeks. But my dentist uses a Sonicare, and his teeth are so white they look “like new!” I’m not sure how old he is, but he’s got gray in his beard, so he’s not all that young. I figure the toothbrush has got something to do with his great-looking teeth.

The biggest benefit I’ve read of is that the Sonicare Essence e5500 Power Toothbrush improves gum health! There are several reviewers on Amazon who say that they’ve avoided needing deep-cleaning or have alleviated periodontal disease by using a Sonicare. That’s anecdotal evidence, but that’s not the only evidence there is. On Sonicare’s corporate site, they have links to actual studies detailing improvements in gum pocket depth. This is great news to me, because I’ve been fighting with pockets which have been slowly deepening through the years.

My dentist and hygienist had been bugging me to get a Sonicare, which is what prompted me to choose this brand. The more I use it, the more I’m glad I went ahead and did it.

Another thing I’m glad I did was to buy it at Amazon instead of at the dentist’s office. I saved about $40 by having it sent to me (with Super Saver shipping).

To get the benefit of the Sonicare without paying for a dentist’s overhead, just click one of the links in this post to get it from Amazon!
